Intro to Canva
The internship with J Legacy Holding Co. was my first exposure to using Canva as a platform since most of my prior experience was more with Adobe Creative Suite while attending Kent State University. But Canva's similarities with Adobe certainly made learning the software much more manageable and quick to learn, allowing myself to quickly adapt to the platform and what it had to offer for the projects I worked on.
Now that I have had 9 months of full experience and working with the company's account and having access with the premium options for projects opened up new avenues to pursue when undergoing projects. The different animation options along with the access to in-video music to accompany the content, especially the sheer quantity there was to choose from really allowed my creativity to flourish.
Campaign Groundwork & Material Drafting
Once the initial introductory period concluded and I was introduced to who would be my supervisors for the duration of the internship, I was given all of the necessary materials and briefs for what info would be expected for use within the content. I and my fellow interns were tasked with making a set of weekly videos that would be posted both on BreatheWell's socials and any platform necessary.
I was given a full brief of each type of content the videos should cover in their TikTok short-form format, which included pests, mold, cleaning chemicals, and cleaning safety depending on what content was available since the videos would be reposts of other videos we found. This allowed us to practice and demonstrate our curating capabilities when it came to evaluating content for use that would be appropriate to include in the videos that could also be funny and entertaining while still remaining appropriate enough with audiences to pair with the company's brand.
Aside from the weekly batches of the video shorts for TikTok, I was tasked with designing and implementing the layout for the company's business letters that would be sent to clients to advertise their business as well as elaborate on the services they offer. This was a fun challenge to design the layout while they were initially wanting me to use the layouts provided by Canva. I took one of them and expanded upon the design to make it more in line with the company's palette as well as incorporate their logo in a meaningful way rather than just placing the logo on a premade. Both my supervisor and I were really happy with the final outcome of the letters, and they even edited the content so I could fit it all within the design itself along with the emboldened.
